PiCQ -The image
In our case, this small Raspberry Pi is perfectly suited for use as a gateway computer, since it is very inexpensive to purchase, has very low power consumption, has sufficient switching interfaces with its GPIO ports, is very small and relatively easy to interconnect.
To say it in advance: I didn't write the FRN Linux client (alterFRN) for the Raspberry! (This honor, for his work, deserves Valery Savchuk). However, when I started with FRN on a Raspberry, I quickly realized that the setup and operation could be a bit complicated. Therefore I decided to create an independent Raspbian image, which is already mostly ready and can be remote controlled via a web page in the browser.
In this case a Debian-Linux distribution with the name „Raspbian“ adapted to the Raspberry is used as operating system. The PiCQ image uses an original version of the Raspberry Foundation in its Light- version. PiCQ is a further development of the former „PiGate 2.6 - Project“ (which I stopped in 2017 due to name conflicts). For the current version there is no graphical user interface (GUI), so there is no need to install the X server. For the web interface the Apache2 webserver with PHP5 and FastCGI extension is used again in PiCQ.
