The Home-Screen:

The individual stations logged into the respective server room are displayed here. Under RX you can see who is talking about the gateway (from FRN the name is shown, if the gateway receives something via HF „Empfange über HF“ is shown. - At LH (last heard), the last person to talk about FRN is displayed.

Timer

PiCQ gives you the possibility to program 2 GPIO ports time-controlled. (Like a timer) - By connecting relays any consumer can be switched on and off.

GPIOs

PiCQ can also be used to switch 2 GPIO ports via the Web UI. By means of relays connected accordingly, any consumer can be switched on and off from the browser.

Mixer

At this point I integrated the Alsamixer project into PiCQ. This makes it possible to adjust individual sound card settings on the fly during operation.

Power

Here you can select the operating mode in which PiCQ is to work. You can select „Normal FRN operation“ and „Emergency (local offline operation)“.

The latter is intended as a emergency radio solution. PiCQ without internet connection can be used as a local gateway to be used as a local gateway in case of a disaster. In this mode PiCQ boots its own local server (alterFRN server) to which both gateways can be directly logged in. This enables a complete gateway operation or the use of the individual gateways as parrot relays. If you connect further PiCQs to the emergency mode via a LAN cable, they can also use the local server.

On this screen you can also specify which of the two gateways (Only1, Only2, none or both gateways) should be started.

As immediate options shutdown or reboot is available.

Amazon Bestelliste

Just as a thought-prompter. Everyone should of course consider for himself what he needs. -I personally consider the plastic housings for the Raspberry to be bad for building a gateway (HF emission), so in the example I chose one made of metal. Also not everyone needs a plug for CB radios, but I chose one in the example. You can also buy cables and jack plugs to solder your cable, but I simply cut some in the middle and soldered them to my PCB. So as I said just for orientation. Ps. A Raspberry 1,2, Zero is also sufficient for its performance and should work according to the feed-back's also with PiCQ, so you can certainly find something on e-Bay. (Whereby I ask myself with the Zero how to solve this with the missing interfaces and whether then a full-grown Pi comes not nevertheless more favorable) 🤔

Built-up Gateways

Here are some photos of gateways that have already been set up, which users have kindly sent me.

PiGate AT5232

PiGate AT5232 Sauldorf, Raspberry Pi2, the antenna is a Tonna fold dipole pre-mast on the south side.

MZG1 und MZG2

My prototype on which I develop the software. Since I constantly disassemble it to test other setups, I have renounced a decent metal case and rather helped me with 2 aluminum shells. Currently connected 2 „minimal interfaces]“ (consisting of 2 diodes each, a resistor, a transistor and a relay.) I have deliberately refrained from adjusting the input and output levels here in order to test whether the sound cards and devices are able to do this on their own. ( Honestly, I was too lazy LOL)

I have currently not connected the LCD display (4×20 characters), because I have placed an Android tablet on my desk, on which I can always see what my gateway is doing.

Aschi's mobile gateway

Aschi has implemented a mobile gateway in its radio trailer. I think this idea is great, a kind of mobile check. The tractor as a tractor ensures good off-road mobility.
